Having the right tools is an essential element in achieving a flawless look. It’s as important as the makeup you choose, but tools are often the most overlooked and underrated assets when trying to achieve a flawless look.

In most women’s makeup cases you will find; a powder sponge, miniature brushes, which come with makeup and a powder compact. Many women feel like brushes are just for makeup artists and the usage is too time consuming. Nevertheless, the makeup brushes that are included with makeup when purchased are not adequate for continuous usage. For example, sponges that come with pressed powder often holds natural dirt and oils from the skin. Blush brushes are usually too small and the bristles are coarse, which doesn’t allow for proper application. Eyeshadow applicators pick up too much color and are not adequate for continuous usage.

Brushes allow for a smooth look and easy application that is less time consuming. When choosing brushes, you’ll want to choose those that are not coarse and that allow good color placement. Brushes shouldn’t feel harsh on your skin. They should be soft and full and shouldn’t shed or feel coarse to the touch.

Cleaning your brushes is a MUST! Unclean makeup tools can hold bacteria and may cause infections or acne. You must clean them regularly to get rid of cosmetic buildup as well as bacteria. Once a week is good. No special cleaning solution is needed to clean your brushes. Oftentimes solutions are too harsh for the brushes and cause them to dry out. Absolutely do not use alcohol!!! You can use a light shampoo and then a conditioner to soften the brushes. Be sure to rinse all residues from the brushes. Let them air dry flat and reshape the bristles to its original shape.

With proper care, your brushes will definitely be a make up tool that you will enjoy for years.
